  17. Take to taste salt
  18. Make ready 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
  19. Prepare 1 onion, chopped
  20. Take 1 sprig curry leaves
  21. Get 1/4 tsp. asafoetida
  22. Take 1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste
  23. Prepare 1 small tomato, chopped
  24. Prepare 1 tsp. tomato paste
  25. Prepare 2-3 tbsp. oil
  26. Make ready 1 tsp. coriander leaves, chopped

This Jackfruit curry uses a few spices. Use any that you have and add some garam masala. Raw jackfruit curry ( palakottai poriyal in Tamil) was new to me until my friend suggested me to try South Indian style jackfruit seed curry/ Palakottai poriyal for rice. Jackfruit Curry is a new discovery for me.

Instructions to make Jackfruit Seed Curry:
  1. Dry roast the ingredients mentioned under it on a low flame till you get a good aroma. Keep aside to cool.
  2. Then grind to a powder and keep aside.
  3. Pressure cook the seeds in sufficient water for 4-5 whistles. Keep aside to cool.
  4. Then discard the outer skin and chop them into half.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and temper with mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Then add the asafoetida, onions and curry leaves. Saute till light brown.
  6. Now add the ginger-garlic paste, tomato paste and the remaining dry spices. Saute till the oil separates from the sides of the pan.
  7. Add the chopped tomato and further saute till it is mashed.
  8. Now add the boiled seeds,
  9. 2 tbsp. of the ground spice,salt
  10. And 1 1/2 cups water. Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes or till the gravy is slightly thick.
  11. By now you will see some oil floating on the surface.
  12. Garnish with with coriander leaves. Serve it hot as a side dish with any form of rice or Indian bread.
