The ingredients needed to make Kadala Curry:
  1. Get 3 Cups cooked black Chickpeas
  2. Prepare 1 1/2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  3. Get 1 small Cinnamon
  4. Make ready 4 green Cardamom
  5. Make ready 4 Cloves
  6. Make ready 1 tsp Fennel Seeds
  7. Take 1 big Onion (finely chopped)
  8. Make ready 1 Spring Curry leaves
  9. Make ready 1 tblsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
  10. Make ready 1 big Tomato (finely chopped)
  11. Make ready 2 green Chilli's (slit)
  12. Make ready 2 tsp Kashmiri Mirch
  13. Prepare 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
  14. Prepare 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  15. Get 1 tsp black Pepper Powder
  16. Get 2 tsp Garam Masala
  17. Get 1 Cup Coconut Milk
  18. Take 1/2 Cup Water
  19. Take to taste Salt
  20. Get To Temper:
  21. Prepare 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
  22. Make ready 3/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
  23. Prepare 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  24. Get 5-6 Curry leaves
  25. Make ready 2 dry red Chillies
Instructions to make Kadala Curry:
  1. Heat 11/2 tblsp Coconut Oil in a pan, add Cinnamon, 4 Cloves, 1 tsp Fennel Seeds and let them sizzle for few seconds. Then add the finely chopped Onion, 1 spring Curry leaves and 2 slit green Chilli's to it and saute it until the colour of the Onion changed to slightly brown.
  2. Add 1 tblsp Ginger-Garlic Paste and mix well. Saute until the raw smell goes away.
  3. Now add the chopped Tomato and Salt to it. Let it cook till the Tomato turns mushy.
  4. Now add 2 tsp Kashmiri Mirch, 1 tbsp Coriander Powder, 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder, 1 tsp black Pepper Powder, 2 tsp Garam Masala to it and mix well. Saute everything for a few seconds.
  5. Add 1 Cup of Coconut Milk and mix well. Then add 3 Cups cooked black Chickpeas and 1/2 Cup Water. Mix everything well and let it summer on low heat for 20-25 Minutes.
  6. For tempering heat 1 tbsp Coconut Oil in a small pan. When it's hot add 3/4 tsp Mustard Seeds and let them splutter for few seconds. Then add 1/4 tsp Asafoetida, 5-6 Curry leaves and 2 dry red Chilli's to it. Saute everything for few seconds and then pour it over the curry and mix. Kadala Curry is ready to enjoy !
